Chance to Shine
St Mary’s Primary School Timsbury who won the Year Five competition with Timsbury Youth co-ordinator Lloyd Davies
Winners of the best boy and girl (l to r) Amanda (St Benedicts), Emily (High Littleton), Theo (Bishop Henderson), Cameron (Bishop Henderson)
There was more enthusiastic play on the recreation field at Timsbury on National Cricket Day when children from five local Primary schools took part in the third festival of cricket hosted by Timsbury Cricket Club under the direction of its Youth co-ordinator Lloyd Davies. It is all part of the Cricket Foundation’s Chance to Shine campaign which aims to educate children through regular cricket and competition.
Throughout the summer term pupils from Bishop Henderson School, Coleford, Cameley Primary, High Littleton Primary, St Mary’s Timsbury and St Benedicts Primary have been receiving cricket coaching supervised by Lloyd and the festival gave them the opportunity to participate in structured competition.
The winners in the Year Six section were Bishop Henderson with St Benedicts picking up the Fair Play award. At Year Five level St Mary’s Timsbury ran out winners with Cameley Primary collecting the Fair Play prize. Amanda from St Benedicts and Theo from Bishop Henderson were chosen as the top girl and boy from Year Six with Emily of High Littleton and Cameron of Bishop Henderson the Year Five winners.
