Girls Brigade

First Timsbury Girls Brigade celebrated its 45th birthday with a special anniversary service at Tabor Church where it has been based throughout its history.

For the first time it combined the anniversary with the church’s own morning service which was led by Michelle Bates. The company has just appointed a new Captain, Kate Rainbow who takes over from Doreen Moxham who has held the post for the last 18 years. Ms Rainbow is only the third person to lead the group which was set up originally by Susan Macey.

Members of the Girls Brigade took part in the service with Bible readings and prayers and Bibles were presented to the latest recruits Ruby, Leah and Ellie. Following the service lunch was served by members of the company in the schoolroom.

The Girls Brigade meet at Tabor Church every Wednesday during term time from 6pm to 8pm. New members from the age of 4 are always welcome and more details can be obtained from Mrs Moxham on 01761 437256 or from Ms Rainbow on 01225 769961.
