Help Wanted!!

Plans are well advanced for Timsbury’s entry into the In Bloom competition run by the Royal Horticultural Society and the Bath in Bloom contest for villages but the organising group is appealing for help.

Parish councillor Carole Watts who has led the early stages of the preparations said, “ We are hoping to make some 12-15 wooden planters for all the plants we have but we need people to come forward to make them.  Travis Perkins have kindly donated some timber and if a few individuals could make a couple of planters each it would lighten the load.  Over 2000 plug plants have been ordered and we want to plant them into containers and place them around the village”.

The financing of the entries comes from Timsbury’s success in the Calor Village of the Year competition where for the second year running, it was chosen as the top large village in Bath and North East Somerset in 2008 .  Barry Sewell has recently taken over from Mrs Watts as chairman of the organsiing group and the local school, Cheshire Home and Playgroup have all agreed to take part . Local businesses have also been very co-operative. There is a lot of work to be done, however, and it is hoped that more volunteers will come forward.

Anyone able to make the wooden planters or who could help in any way is asked to contact Mr Sewell on 01761 471685, Mrs Watts on 01761 472394 or Colin Robinson on 01761 471665.
