South Road Methodist Church Timsbury was packed for a thanksgiving concert in memory of Delver Hyman who died earlier this year…
Mr Hyman who was a steward at the church was well known throughout the area for his singing and was formerly a member of Bath Opera and the Bath Bach Choir and regularly sang at concerts on his own.
The concert was organised by life-long friend Colin Hunt who played the organ and presided over an evening of high quality music which was fully appreciated by the audience. He was joined by soloists Sara Foster and Dilwen Miller, violinist Tim Barrett, organist Jules Addison, Alice Petersen and Maurice Miller.
Amongst the solo selections were favourites such as Linden Lea, We’ll Gather Lilacs and Waltz of My Heart. Mr Barrett chose as his violin pieces Beethoven’s Spring Sonata – the first movement and Edward Elgar’s Chanson de Matin and Chanson de Nuit.
The concert concluded a very special day for the church which had remembered another former member Iris Russell at a memorial coffee morning earlier in the day which raised £300 for church funds.
