Darren Cridge and Debbie Templar
After being closed since February of this year the Seven Stars pub in Timsbury has re-opened with new leaseholders…
Darren Cridge and his partner Debbie Templar have moved to the village from Bristol where Mr Cridge worked in the packaging industry and Ms Templar was an area manager for Rentokill.
The couple say that they have already settled into village life and have been very impressed with the welcome that they have received. Ms Templar used to run a pub and bed and breakfast in Paignton and both of them are trained chefs. They intend to make the Seven Stars a family orientated pub with standard pub food at affordable prices. At the moment the pub is undergoing a modest refurbishment programme with some new furniture and two play areas are being created outside, one for the toddlers and one for older children.
Mr Cridge said,
“We are very keen that this should be a community pub and we will be supporting traditional pub games such as darts and pool. There are also new petanque pitches outside which have been installed by the petanque players.”
The pub is owned by Punch Taverns and Mr Cridge and Ms Templar have a ten year lease. In the future they would like to develop the pub to include bed and breakfast.
The couple have three boys, Nathan(9), Luke(6) and Matthew (3) and as an early community venture a football match has been arranged between Nathan’s football side in Bristol , Ashton under 10s and Timsbury under 11s. A trophy will be presented to the winners and it is hoped it may become an annual event.
