Shoebox Appeal

We would like to thank the people of Timsbury for their support of Operation Christmas Child in 2009. For the first time we used our home as a drop off point and had 24 boxes delivered to us, with very little advertising. Next year we will hope for more as the area organising committee in Bath will make us a registered “Drop Off Point”

Operation Christmas Child is the world’s largest children’s Christmas appeal with a heritage of over 19 years. Every year Operation Christmas Child is made possible through the amazing support of thousands of children and adults in the UK. Last year alone we had the joy of sending 1.2 million shoeboxes bursting with joy to children in parts of Africa, Central Asia and Eastern Europe. For further details go to http://www.samaritans-purse.org.uk/occ

The people of Bath, Midsomer Norton, Radstock and the neighbouring villages in BA2 & 3, have donated a total of 6,136 gift filled shoeboxes to the Appeal, of which 1900 reached us via our Drop Off Points.

This year, the shoeboxes from the Bath District have been included in loads sent to Serbia and Kiev in Ukraine, with the last lorry departing for Serbia on Thursday 10th December. All the Bath District shoeboxes should arrive in Serbia and Ukraine in good time for distribution to the children by Christmas. Thank you again for your support and contribution to the 2009 Shoebox Appeal and we look forward to your support later in 2010.
