Anyone who may be looking at a set of exercises to help overcome the stresses and strains of life or who may have problems with movement is being invited to join the Tai Chi courses at the Conygre Hall Timsbury on Thursday mornings from 10am to 11.30 . The instructor is Jeremy Armstrong who joined his first tai chi group in London 17 years ago and has been teaching it for the last six.
Tai Chi is a system based on traditional Chinese medicine. It uses the same principles as acupuncture to regulate the flow of energy around the body. It is a set of exercises designed to maintain health, increasing flexibility and strength, improving balance and co-ordination and can be used as a daily practice.
Mr Armstrong is off to China in April to meet Taoist tai chi practitioners and to see the area where the practice developed.
He said, “The exercises can be performed by everyone and are adapted to suit individual abilities. The feedback so far has been very positive and newcomers are always welcome”.
Jan Sheppard who travels to the weekly sessions from Midsomer Norton said, “ I have found it a great help physically and it gives me a chance to relax. I have made some good friends and it has given me a chance to have some ‘me’ time”.
Sue Langdon from Timsbury who suffers mobility problems said, “ I thoroughly enjoy the sessions and since taking part I have definitely been walking better”
