There was more enthusiastic cricket on the recreation field at Timsbury when children from six local Primary schools took part in the second festival of cricket hosted by Timsbury Cricket Club under the direction of its Youth co-ordinator Lloyd Davies…
It is all part of the Cricket Foundation’s Chance to Shine campaign which aims to educate children through regular cricket and competition.
Throughout the summer term pupils from Bishop Henderson School, Coleford, Cameley Primary, High Littleton Primary, Peasedown Primary, St Mary’s Timsbury and St Benedicts Primary have been receiving cricket coaching supervised by Lloyd and the festival gave them the opportunity to participate in structured competition.
The joint winners in the Year Six section were Peasedown , High Littleton and Cameley with St Mary’s Timsbury picking up the Fair Play award. At Year Five level St Benedicts ran out winners with Peasedown collecting the Fair Play prize. Patrick Chubb from High Littleton and Cassidy Waterhouse from Bishop Henderson and Ashleigh Ridding of Cameley were chosen as the top boy and girls from Year Six with Oliver Beechener of St Mary’s, Dan Jennings of High Littleton and Freya Hallett (St Benedicts) the Year Five winners.
Timsbury Cricket Club would again like to thank Writhlington school for providing the sports’ leaders and Trophies of Radstock for their kind donation of trophies.
