Timsbury 1 Nailsea 2

A goal two minutes from the end of normal time from Nailsea Utd substitute Matt Collins saw Timsbury Athletic suffer their first home reversal since November 8 in the Somerset County League Premier Division.  Timsbury led 1-0 at the interval against the current league champions but careless defending was to ultimately cost them dearly and hand their visitors a league double against them.

Steve Colliver had an excellent first half for the home side and he came close to giving Timsbury an early lead with a fine shot on the edge of the penalty area that keeper Andy Fellows was happy to push over the top at the expense of a corner.  Soon after he was well wide with another effort but chances were generally few and far between.  Ben Hancock and Alex Young for Timsbury and Jon Clayton for the visitors all received yellow cards before the home side took the lead on the half-hour.  Steve Baker was foiled as he burst through the middle but the ball came back to Colliver just inside the area and he hit the sweetest of shots past Fellows.

At the other end Joe Berry was crowded out as he advanced on goal and keeper Neil Hucker comfortably held a volley from James Taylor.  Colliver then had a great chance to add a second right on half-time but this time he screwed his shot wide.

The second half began badly for Timsbury who conceded the equalizer within five minutes of the restart.  Berry broke clear on the left and his centre found the unmarked Clayton who headed easily home.  A Colliver free-kick caused Fellows few problems while a similar opportunity saw  Ben Hancock balloon his shot high and wide but not very handsome.  Timsbury player/manager Aaron Dix was another player to go in the referee’s book as the game seemed to be meandering towards a draw.  Then in a late infusion of action Steve Brimble cleared off the Timsbury line and substitute Joe Sparey threatened a winner for the home side with one effort that went just the wrong side of the post and a header from Hancock’s cross that was held by Fellows.  In the end it was Nailsea who took the honours with Collins shooting home from a goalmouth melee with Timsbury slow to clear.
