Timsbury 2 Keynsham Town 2

The return match between the sides lying in third and fourth places in the Errea Somerset County League Division 2 East ended with honours even.

Timsbury Athletic and Keynsham Town Reserves fought out a draw on a gluepot of a pitch that was alien to visiting side who play their home games on an artificial surface.

The third-placed visitors got off to the perfect start with a goal after just three minutes. Timsbury were caught out by a Szymon Gromek corner which Ben Stiff chested into the net.

Timsbury’s first positive move saw Paul Tainton make good progress down the left, only for his cross to be pulled back just too far.

A Ben Hancock free-kick caused problems for Keynsham before Timsbury equalised after 18 minutes when Matt Moore headed against the crossbar and Andrew Mills was on hand to head home the rebound.

An excellent pass from Ellis Hancock scythed open the Keynsham defence but Mills failed to add a second goal, bringing out a tidy save from keeper Ryan Perry.

Within a minute the home side were regretting the miss as Jack Mitchell burst through for the visitors and shot past Ben Paisey.

Joe Parker replied for the home side with a shot which went just wide but at the interval Keynsham were 2-1 up.

Early in the second half, Mark Hubbard went close for the visitors but Timsbury struck after 50 minutes. A series of corners from Parker eventually bore fruit as substitute Russell Davies forced the ball home.

The heavy conditions made constructive football difficult and clear chances were at a premium.  Gromek tried his luck for Keynsham, while a break down the left from Parker for Timsbury came to nothing.

A free-kick from Ben Hancock gave Steve Gilham a headed chance for the home side but he put it just over, while substitute Matt Spencer saw his shot comfortably held by Perry.

Keynsham substitute Joe Ryan had a late opportunity to steal the points for the visitors but Paisey saved well.
