TIMSBURY TRAFFIC AND ROAD SAFETY GROUP
A list of some 46 solutions have been proposed by Timsbury Villagers in an attempt to help remedy the many problems caused to them by vehicles passing through and using the Village roads on a day to day basis.
These were passed to the Chairman and Parish and Ward Councillors at the PACT Meeting held on 3rd February.
Contributors to the Traffic and Road Safety Group are well aware that B&NES have so far been unable to provide any viable solutions to the difficulties. However this should not prevent further research and investigation being undertaken into the problem, particularly in the light of technological advancement and changes to the Law as well as traffic volume and usage which will continue to increase in years to come.
The Timsbury Traffic Group is committed to raising the profile of the problem and over the last twelve months has succeeded in it being awarded priority status through the PACT meetings. It is now incumbent upon both the Parish Council and the Ward Councillor to ensure that valuable work is not wasted but advanced by using their authority to negotiate with B&NES and to ensure that positive steps are taken to bring about improvements which will not only make the Village roads safer but enhance the quality of life for the people of Timsbury and their visitors.
The Timsbury Traffic Group will remain in existence to assist both Parish and Local Councillors and to observe and monitor future progress of this important matter for so long as it is necessary. It is hoped however that the people elected to represent the interests of the Village will use both the Community Website – on which there is a designated Traffic Safety area – the Timsbury Letter, public meetings and the local press to maintain contact with the Village and to ensure that the issue does not slip from the agenda.
The Traffic Group will continue to encourage B&NES Transport and Planning Policy Officers to apply their technical expertise to adapt the suggestions made by villagers and to adopt a positive approach to the problem.
Anyone wishing to add their suggestions to the list is encouraged to do so by contacting amanda.cranston@yahoo.co.uk 01761 470600 at The Timsbury Traffic Group, or the Parish or Ward Councillors.
