The Traffic Group are pleased to report there was an excellent turn out at the PACT Meeting held on Thursday 28th October at Clutton.
Despite the pessimism shown by B&NES after the speed count in September, the Meeting over-whelmingly voted that the question of Timsbury traffic should remain at the top of the agenda and both the B&NES Stronger Communities Manager, Mr Dixon and the new Police representative, Sergeant Chapman, were asked to take an holistic view and to investigate further possibilities for making Timsbury roads safer for all users.
The Group have also written to Peter Dawson, B&NES Group Manager for Planning Policy and Transport in response to his letter of 13th October, asking for technical guidance and suggestions for addressing safety issues on the village roads.
St Mary’s Primary School children carried out a pedestrian count on North Road during the week of 11th to 15th October, and the very helpful information provided by them was passed to the Meeting.
Residents of North Road in particular will be pleased to hear that the Police will now be paying special attention to inconsiderate and pavement parking and we hope to report some positive progress towards halting this dangerous and annoying practice very soon.
The next PACT Meeting will be held at the Conygre Hall at 7pm on Thursday 3rd February 2011 and it is hoped that attendance will be high.
