Under 10′s Football

Timsbury under 10s returned to take part in this years Westfield six-a-side tournament and were looking to retain the title they won last year. The Arrows and Blades were drawn in the same group meaning that they would face each for a second time in two weeks, but unfortunately for the Blades it was the same result with the Arrows winning.

The Arrows topped the group with five wins, scoring 13 goals from Brad, Ash, Ebner and Jack and conceding just one. The Blades had a late charge of goals in their final matches but the effort s from Reuben and Nathen were not enough to see them through. Wells dashed their chances with a goal of their own with the last kick of the game as the Blades missed out by one point.

In the semi-final the Arrows faced Purnells and at the end of the six minutes the teams were tied. Two minutes of extra time could not split the teams and so the game went to golden goal. With both the keepers removed it was Timsbury who managed to find the back of the net.

In a repeat of last year’s final the Arrows faced Wells again. In what was a hard but fair match with end to end action both teams had chances. Again extra time came and went without a goal. The keepers were removed and an outfield player was taken off every minute. With only three players each left on Wells looked certain to score only to be denied by an amazing stop from Rico. The ball rebounded out and a quick pass from Zak left Ash with a one on one which he duly converted for his sixth goal of the day to secure the title for Timsbury.
