United Service

Conygre Hall was the venue on Sunday morning for the united service for the Week of Prayer for Christian Unity which was organised by Timsbury Churches Together. The guest speaker was the Rev Annie Naish who is the Ecumenical Mission Enabler for the diocese of Bath and Wells. She based her talk on Ezekiel and the dried bones and stressed the importance of being connected and everyone working together as one body.

This year’s theme for the Week of Prayer for Christian Unity was chosen in Scotland, where churches have been preparing to celebrate the anniversary of the 1910 World Mission Conference, which marked the beginnings of the modern ecumenical movement.

The service in Timsbury was led by the village rector, the Rev Chris Hare. He was joined by representatives of all the village churches. Readings were given by Ted Hudson (South Road Methodist Church), Eric Barge (Tabor Church) and Pastor Ian Brailey (Congregational). The prayers were led by the curate the Rev Candice Marcus.

A retiring collection was taken on behalf of the Haiti Earthquake appeal and the Sunday café.
