In 2007 Timsbury Parish Council decided it would be valuable to have a village plan which reflected the opinions of residents and indicated what developments they might wish to see in the future. A steering committee was set up which established working groups and together they organised a survey of residents’ views.
The Village Report and Action Plan has now been completed and the chairman of the Steering Committee Geoff Smith attended the monthly meeting of the Parish Council to hand over the finished product to Council Chairman Veronica Packham. Each villager will also receive a document which presents a summary of the results of the survey and sets out a plan for action.
One of the priorities of the Steering Committee was to prompt immediate action on any issues which it felt could not wait until the Village Report was produced. This has been done and some progress has been made on the retention of the Youth Club, the issues of resilience ands sustainability and the arrangement of a village fun day on June 19.
Mr Smith said, “We hope that by looking at the results of the survey as a whole it will be possible to continue making decisions on an informed basis so that the village becomes an even better place in which to live, work and visit. The answers to the survey show that residents want Timsbury to continue to be a distinctive place where community life is vibrant and sustainable and all residents have the opportunity to develop and fulfil their potential”.
Mrs Packham thanked Mr Smith, secretary Joyce Poulton and all the committee for the work they had put in over the last two years. Altogether 70 volunteers had been involved at various stages of the project.
