Youth Club

Wednesday night Club for 11 to 14 year olds at secondary school is under way at last, staffed by YMCA youth workers!

During December important discussions will be taking place within the YMCA which should resolve how and when Bath YMCA take over responsibility for the Centre. In the meantime the existing Committee continues and by agreement with the YMCA has applied for a grant to upgrade the. Hall floor by making it less cold and by introducing a shock absorbing layer for sports and dancing.

The Coffee Bar lounge is currently being repainted and once complete, Art work produced by members will be displayed there. When the YMCA do take over, the front of the Centre, facing North Road, will be refurbished.

I would like to record the thanks of everyone involved in the running of the Centre to those organisations who have been fundraising for the Club. I have been presented with a cheque for £250 raised by Radstock & Midsomer Norton Lions Club and with a cheque for £300 by Timsbury Athletic Football Club for a sponsored cycle ride in atrocious weather conditions.

We always appreciate donations however small.

Thank you too to all those adults and young people who have completed the’ Village Plan questionnaires, which will give clear evidence to would-be funders of the level of support there is for a Youth Club to continue in the village.

Everyone involved with the Youth Club wishes you a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.

P.S. A solution to the legal issues has been found, so we are now finalising details of the transfer of responsibility for the Youth Centre and Club to Bath YMCA from April 1st 2009. Please note that the Club is now opening from 6 pm to 9 pm on Mondays and Wednesdays, but will be closed from 24th to 31st December inclusive.
